Keeping students healthy from preschool to PhD

From pre-schools, where infections like Norovirus, Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease, and Flu can run rampant, to secondary schools and Universities where meningitis, MRSA and other infections are a real risk, schools are under pressure to do more to promote a healthy environment for students and staff.

Influenza infection rates are generally highest in children and healthy children are the major cause of the spread of the virus in the community. You can spread the flu bug without knowing you have it – and the elderly, pregnant women and people with chronic health conditions are particularly vulnerable.
With student absenteeism being as high as 30% during flu season, school days lost to illness can negatively impact the students’ as well as the schools performance. Employee and teacher absences come with significant costs and disruptions to teaching programmes, along with increased administration in sourcing relieving staff.

Vivotec Solution:

Regularly cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces like door knobs, light switches, tables and chairs, shared equipment and resources, keyboards, drinking fountains, sports and gym equipment, lockers etc significantly reduces infection risk.

Vivotec’s range of electrostatic misters and ULV foggers coupled with fast acting disinfectants provide a rapid an effective means of regularly sanitising to provide a clean, odour free learning environment.
Misting is a contactless method of disinfecting, greatly reducing the risk of infection for staff, and reduces the time required to disinfect a typical area by approx 70% compared to traditional spraying and wiping, while also providing much more complete coverage with 65% less disinfectant use, greatly reducing labour and consumable costs.

Equipment Recommendation:
  • Due to the low amount of airborne mist, Electrostatic sprayers are the best option for use where regular disinfection is required, and other people may be present during the process. Electrostatic misting also has a 3D wrap around effect giving better all around coverage of the multiple shapes and sizes of classroom objects without having to spray or wipe from multiple different angles to get coverage as with traditional methods
  • The VP200ES Cordless Electrostatic hand-held sprayer and VIVO-DIGIPRO Cordless are perfect for disinfecting of classroom objects and surfaces, toilet areas. The VP200 also comes in a versatile soft side carry bag  for added convenience and damage protection. Disinfectant coverage of approx. 260m2 per 1L tank fill.
  • For end of day disinfect of all rooms, and sanitising of larger areas such as gyms, hall seating, lobby and admin areas the VP300ES cordless electrostatic backpack sprayer or the VIVO-MAX / VIVO-DUOMAX ULV foggers could be good options, giving over 2200m2 of disinfectant coverage per tank fill.

Disinfectant Recommendation:

Due to their non-toxic nature, AHP and NaDCC disinfectants are safe for application around people and applicator PPE is not required, unless there is high concentration of airborne mist, in which case respiratory protection is desirable to avoid possible nasal irritation.

Important Note: To avoid surface tarnishing or streaking, AHP & NaDCC are not recommended for use on brass, copper, marble, exposed raw steel/cast iron or zinc coatings. See data sheet for full materials compatibility.

  • Oxivir AHP disinfectant and wipes are perfect for classroom use, having the lowest EPA toxicity rating available, breaking down into oxygen and water minutes after application, leaving no residue or odour. Plus kids will love the fact that it is what NASA astronauts use on the International Space Station.
  • For larger areas such as gyms, sports equipment, locker rooms etc, Vivotecs Klorsept NaDCC disinfectant is an ideal solution. The effervescent tablets provide a very effective, fast acting, yet economical and easy to use solution which doesn’t require special measuring or mixing procedures – simply add the required number of tablets per litre of tap water, let them dissolve for a few minutes then you’re ready to go.
